Decorative Wall Paper is a popular option for interior decorating. There are many types to choose from, including vinyl, paper, and lining paper. Vinyl is the most common type of wallpaper, and is known for its durability. The thicker the layer of vinyl, the more durable it will be. Vinyl can be used in the kitchen and bathroom, and it's also washable.
Before the 1840s, wallpaper was produced by a block-printing process, a time-consuming and labor-intensive process. As manufacturers sought to increase production, they began using new techniques. A cotton printing company in Darwen, Lancashire, developed a machine that could speed up the process. The process consisted of passing the paper over a cylindrical drum that was covered with rollers. The rollers inked the paper simultaneously, and colours were held in troughs beneath the rollers.
Decorative wall paper is composed of several layers: a ground coat and a decorative surface. The ground coat is made from a woven or non-woven material, while the ink layer is made from a pigment. The ink layer is usually made from pigment or dyes that are combined with a solvent to set the background color. The backing may be made of a non-woven material, such as wood pulp, or a woven fabric, such as heavy cotton. A pre-pasted wallpaper may require the rewetting process to ensure adhesion.
Decorative Wall Paper comes in a variety of styles and designs. Many old master prints feature repeating decorative patterns. These prints were meant to serve as models for wallpaper makers.
