They are widely used in many scenes and are expensive. There are also cheaper alternatives made of sponge boards. The effect of the hard reflector under outdoor use is very good. Most hard reflectors have high-reflective surfaces and low-reflective surfaces to distinguish the light intensity-often referred to as "hard" and "soft" surfaces; used to describe the light source effect produced by reflection and not depend on their material .
Soft reflectors are usually gold, silver, white or a combination of these colors. It has an uneven surface or irregular texture. The light will have a diffuse reflection effect on its plane, and the light source will be softened and spread to a larger area. You can use a soft reflector as the main light source for scenes or objects. This type of reflector creates light and shadow effects similar to diffused light sources. This effect is very suitable for lighting people's faces.
As an auxiliary equipment in shooting, the reflector is usually used together with the bracket and light. Its main functions are:
