Removing old wallpaper is a tricky task, but you can get twice the result with half the effort by mastering the right methods and using the right tools. Take a look at the following article to teach you how to do it.
Cover with a hood on the carpet or other areas you need protection. If necessary, you can use small nails to fix it to the side of the wall, but remember that even if it is fixed, the cover sheet will still shift a lot. Temporarily removing nearby furniture and making room will make you more flexible.
Turn off all power switches in the room. If you usually work and like to host weekend parties, it is recommended to buy a halogen lamp and a plug strip with a long wire.
Figure out the wall materials. In this way, when you tear off the wallpaper, you can know it well, so that you don't use too much force to damage the wall. Most walls are either cement walls or dry board walls. The cement wall is hard and strong, and it is not afraid of water, but the dry board wall is very water-resistant. The easiest way to distinguish is to tap the wall with your hands in multiple places; if the sound is hollow, it is a drywall. If you use liquid or steam when going to wallpaper, be careful.
Determine your wallpaper type. There are many types of wallpaper, but compared to traditional wallpaper, peelable wallpaper is much easier to handle. To verify this, you can use a putty knife to make an opening under a corner of the wallpaper, and then try to peel back the wallpaper with your hands. If the wallpaper is torn off together in pieces, it should be a peelable wallpaper. In this way, your workload is much smaller. If, like a cheap label, only the surface layer is torn off and there is a residual underside on the wall, then your wallpaper belongs to the upper layer of peelable wallpaper. This is not as easy to handle as peelable wallpaper, but you still have to be thankful that this is not an old-fashioned wallpaper yet. If you can't tear the wallpaper off the wall with your bare hands (or can only tear off a little at a time), your wallpaper is an old-fashioned wallpaper. You have to take advantage of the power of the film remover or steam cleaner.
